Green

I want to drive a nail into my forehead every time I heard people attach that word in front of whatever they are selling; Green Consultants, Green Hotel, or Green Building. It belongs to the same pile of meaningless crap like; eco-friendly, revolution, hybrid, innovation, artistic, amazing, and any other word people use to try and glam up their crappy product/idea. There’s many amazing firms/people out there doing great things to help bring awareness to environment issues but every time assholes who bastardize this word to sell something without truly grasping it is just greenwashing. Abusing the word Green as a marketing term not only dilute the meaning of this word it’s also a big fuck you to all the folks out there that’s actually doing something good. It hurts everybody but the marketers.

Next time you see some greedly marketer doing this, give them hell. Ask them how they are different then the existing product/process? How do they see their product fit into the life cycle? How does the product affect the water supple, local enviornment, air quality, use of natural resources, disposing? Where’s the proof, labels, certifications?

A good rule of thumb is that any true green product doesn’t need to market themselves so aggressively to have street creds. I know it can be difficult but ask some questions, understand what’s the companies motivation, and research their facts.
